Each time the koma in front are filled, the empty koma from the back are brought forward. As the braid grows, it is advanced over the torii onto the take-up beam, which is kept in place by the brake. See Diagram To create even tension over the length of the braid, the point of braiding is kept as close as possible to a point directly above the crossbar. |
