Taka Dai Diagram

Here we are making a simple 2/2 twill braid with 33 tama. Since this is a single layer braid, only the upper rail [jyodan] is used.

The tama are divided between the two sides, with 16 on the left and 17 on the right. The pegs on the koma separate the groups of threads and keep them in order. Each tama in turn is woven through the others towards the center, or point of braiding.
